Crazy, fast, fun weekend in 2 states!

So last minute we decided to go to Dallas for the weekend.  Lauren, Mike and Brinley were going to be there and Aaron's mom was even there visiting, so we decided to meet them there.  They live 4 hours from Dallas and we live 10-11 hrs away from Dallas.
When Aaron started pitching this idea to me I was in because we don't get to see them as much since they moved to TX.  What I didn't realize right away was that there was an ulterior motive:  BYU football game.  Yes, that's right.  Aaron is willing to take off for the weekend, not just to meet up with his family but because there was a football game he wanted to go to!
He had mentioned it a couple months back that it was going on, but we never really made plans because it is kind of a far drive.  Luckily, we did have a place to stop in between so we didn't have to drive the entire way.  We left on Thursday and stayed over night half-way at Aunt Karla's (Aaron's mom's friend that has been like family especially now to the boys!) in Oklahoma.  It really worked out perfectly.  We drove the rest of the way in the morning to TX and the game was that night.
Unfortunately for Aaron, he was torn between 2 games that night.  The St Louis Cardinals were playing game 7 of the World Series that night too.  The funny thing was that BYU was playing TCU at the Dallas Cowboys stadium.  That stadium happens to sit right next to the Texas Rangers stadium.  They were playing in St Louis but it was funny to be right there next to their stadium!  Mike and Lauren were watching a lot of the game up at the TVs behind our section at the football game.  We went up there to celebrate with them for the 9th inning.  BYU was losing anyway!  Grandma was so nice to volunteer to stay back at the hotel with both babies since it was almost their bedtime when the game was starting.
I forgot my camera that weekend (I never do that!) so here are some pictures from my phone, Lauren's phone and her camera.

Cousins helping each other with their dental hygiene.
Except I'm pretty sure you're not supposed
 to share toothbrushes!  Oh well!

Got on their BYU blue in a sea of TCU purple at the game

When we got in the stadium Brady said "How did our car
get up there?"  He saw our car way far up there and knew
it was the same kind as ours (silver Explorer).
I told him we got a really good parking spot!

All of us at the game sporting our BYU blue and Cardinal red.
We got some really dirty looks having the "away" teams colors on in both cases!

Go Cardinals!  Look at the dirty look that girl in the background is giving us!

And here's us in front of the stadium!

We stopped again on Saturday night to stay at Karla's again before heading home.  She took us out to this really cool nature preserve/museum by her house.  It was one of the prettiest places in the fall I've ever seen.  You drive through there in your car with animals just roaming out there.  The kids loved it.  There were elk, buffalo, deer and all kinds of other animals.

Collin was fascinated by the animals and loved Karla holding him up to see the animals.  He's looking at the ostrich, but it's hard to tell what it is in the background.
One thing I wish I had a picture of  happened at Karla's house.  We had both boys in the tub and I got Collin out and dressed for bed while Brady finished playing.  Karla and I went to retrieve Collin's cup to give him before he went to bed and somehow he sneaked back into the bathroom.  We hear Brady's voice down the hallway  "Collin's in the tub".  I said "Like he's got his hands in there playing or IN the tub".  "He's IN the tub"  He had climbed back in the tub and had gotten soaking wet and was standing there crying in his soaking wet PJ's!  He loves the water!  But he did not like the wet clothes!  So we dried him, changed him and tried again!  That little rascal!
We had a fun weekend and even though we were in the car for about 5 hours every day, it was still a fun trip.  The kids were so good in the car and that made it so much better!
