Loving the weather!

I know in about 2 months or so, I will be complaining that it is too hot. But right now we are enjoying the weather a lot. It is so nice to just sit outside and read a book while Brady plays. I love listening to his funny little sounds of a boy at play.
He was drawing pictures for me with the chalk and then he wanted to draw a road for his bike and little car to ride around on. So I helped him with that and now he has a little track to ride around on.
We had a fun outside day today and I hope it stays like this for awhile before the thermometer starts to climb!
Here's a little video clip. He's singing some song he is making up as he rides.

Air Show

So D-M (the base here) had its Air Show here this weekend. The last one they had here was 3 years ago when Brady was like 5 weeks old. Here's a picture of us standing in front of Aaron's plane with him. Brady was so little and slept the entire time in his stroller with the shade over him except for this picture!

This one we took today but it's missing something....or someone I should say!
From the second we got there, all Brady wanted to do was see and get in Daddy's airplane. So we did that. You weren't supposed to take pictures inside, but when the other people left from the cockpit and the guy manning the plane was helping them down the stairs-I snapped one real quick of Brady sitting in Aaron's seat! He really is Daddy's co-pilot! The quality is not so great because it's so bright outside, it makes it dark in the picture. But I had to take it quick so it's actually not too bad for that!

There were so many vehicles big and small of every kind that is of interest to a 3 year old boy. Here's another of his favorites.
Here we are in a helicopter seat together.

And my personal favorite was the Thunderbirds team. Seriously, this is what they do for their jobs! Crazy! It's so fun to watch and just be amazed at the crazy and very dangerous looking stunts and formations they do. It was very difficult taking these pictures into the sun. I just pointed my camera and clicked because I couldn't even see the screen because it was so bright!
(I must have some smudge on my lens since there is a dark spot on all these pictures.)

They cross and loop at the last minute!

Brady's covering his ears after one came shooting by right above us very fast and very loud!

And this last one is a formation flight tribute to all the men and women from the base who are deployed over seas. They did this big loop in formation and turned from end to end. It's amazing really! So this one's for you babe!!

When I asked Brady what his favorite part of the Air Show was today he told me that he liked riding the bus. We had to ride a shuttle bus from where we parked to the back of the base at the runway. I guess it wasn't a total waste of 6 hours as long as we got to ride that bus!!! :) Silly kid, he enjoyed other things too but he loves buses!

Yummy Pie!

Doesn't this pie look amazing? Strawberry, chocolate and a cheese cake layer-what could be better? Since today is Pi day (for all the math nerds out there!) I got an email from Pillsbury with pie recipes and I seriously wanted to make all of them. But am I really going to make this pie for just me and Brady-I shouldn't! So next time anyone invites me over to eat-I'm bringing this pie!!!

In case you want to make this pie too here's the LINK to the recipe!
Can you tell I am on a sugar binge??? Don't be surprised if I have gained 50 pounds the next time you see me!

Local news

OK, Aaron and I always get a kick out of some of the local news reports we hear. And it's not just exclusive to Arizona either. Everywhere, there are local news stations that report on the funniest things and call it news. Maybe it is our fascination with how ridiculous some people can be and I guess since we are entertained by it, other people are as well and that's how it gets on the news. Why is it they always find the weirdest/most random person to ask questions to when these things are happening?
Are our lives bettered by the knowledge these local news reporters give to us? Not really! Are we entertained? Most certainly!

Here is the latest example.
I was driving the other day and it was raining. I heard on the radio that there was a swift water rescue happening on Tanque Verde wash/Sabino Canyon Rd. For those unfamiliar with Tucson, there are washes (dry ditches) that sometimes fill with water when it rains and it gets flowing pretty fast. Some flow over roadways and into low lying spots in the road and stupid people think they can drive across them even though there are clear signs stating not to and you can see the water getting pretty deep. Anyway, back to the story....I was thinking, stupid people-they should know not to drive into this water and get stuck in it. Why do I hear this every time it rains here?? I didn't think much of it until I saw this article the next day. This was the swift water rescue they were talking about????
Kayakers Joyriding Down Tanque Verde Wash Cause Emergency Crew Stir

"A group of kayakers cuased quite a stir when they went for a
paddle down the Tanque Verde wash Tuesday afternoon.
According to Tucson Fire Department, an onlooker called for help because they believe one of the kayakers was struggling. TFD responded to the scene.
It is not yet known wheter any of the kayakers were in danger,
but preliminary indications are that there was not any danger. In photos the
kayakers can be seen wearing life jackets and appear leisurely.

Kayaking down the Tanque Verde river is not illegal."

Ok, there are several things that are just so hilarious in and of themselves in this story and the pictures as well! If you notice in the last picture there is a sign about not stopping, standing or parking on the bridge and all 3 are being done in the picture! Journalism at it's best!!!

But the best thing in this article is the comments beneath the story. When I sent this link to Aaron, he nearly busted a gut (his words, not mine). If you happened to be around when he was laughing (aka-losing it) at the cat and dog jokes that night-that's what he compared it to.

The best comment says "Note to Tucsonans those brightly colored tubs are actually called boats. They float on water have been used for thousands of years. The 'struggling' is called rowing. It is how you control the boat. Also thousands of years old."

Classic! I love Tucson! Thanks KVOA! And thanks to all those local news stations out there that bring us these important stories. We learn so much......uh, wait.....we laugh so much!

Keeping busy......mostly

So Brady and I have surprisingly been keeping ourselves busy doing things for the most part! I hate to say we are having fun without Aaron here, so I won't because it would be more fun if he was here!
Yesterday was not one of those days that we kept busy and we were going stir crazy because it was raining and cold and we didn't leave the house. I swear, I am so spoiled to these Arizona winters! I used to live in places that got rain and snow and was cold all the time and now we get one day like it and I want to be a shut-in! Even Bo doesn't want to go outside and do his business when it is wet and rainy. I have to shove him out the door several times and keep him from running as fast as his wiener legs could carry him back into the house! Once he even did his business right there on the patio because he didn't want to venture out into the wet and cold rocks and grass!
OK......I'll stop talking about my dog's business now and get on to why I really wanted to post. We have been finding fun things to do and fun friends to do them with. Tolson and Brady are like long lost brothers from another life or something. And sometimes they fight like them too! :) Anyway, we have been having some fun outings with them and unfortunately I have not had my camera with me but Wendy did! So if you would like to see pictures of our outings last week click HERE!

Until next time.......maybe it will be sunny today and a little warmer. I don't mind the rain as long as it's not cold! (I'm such a sunny warm snob these days! ) And maybe I will have more to post about than my BoBo's bathroom habits! :)

A little something special....

So, there's a couple reasons why I'm posting this. I think part of the story is funny and the other part is to help Aaron feel like he is still close to home even though he is far away.

When Aaron deploys he has to bring his own bedding with him: sheets and pillowcases, etc.

For the last 3 deployments he has brought with him purple sheets that I used to have on my twin bed in college and when we met actually. They were the only twin sheets we had in our linen closet because we no longer had any twin beds in the house after we got married. Our guest bed is also a queen.

So every time he would go to deploy I would say "Aaron, you don't have to take those purple sheets with you. Let's go buy you some new ones."

And he would say to me "No, they remind me of you because you used to sleep on them."

Seriously, how could I argue with that?

But this time, I had a better idea and a way for him to not be embarrassed by purple sheets. Ok, so he obviously wasn't embarrassed because he kept using them-maybe it was me embarrassed to send my husband "away to war" with purple sheets! I was going to make him some homemade pillowcases so that way it was made by me instead of something that was used by me. And the fabric choice you may ask -- BYU of course! I had my wonderful sister-in-law Erica get me some BYU fabric, since she is in Utah. I wasn't going to make the whole sheet set because that would just be a lot for me to do and by the time I was done, you might not be able to tell which was the fitted sheet and which was the flat sheet!

So I bought him some navy blue sheets that he took with him Blue is the only color I think he sees sometimes! If you don't believe me, look in his closet! Good thing he's in the Air Force right? Anyway, I just made the pillowcases to go with his new sheet set and I'm excited that he will get to use them and the purple ones are here at home with me!

The finished product

Brady's testing it out for me

Hope you like them Aaron!
