My little artist?????

OK, so first of all, Brady did not take a nap today. He was in his crib for a while and did not go to sleep so I went in and got him out. I was trying to finish up a few things on the computer in our office (paying bills, chatting on Facebook, you know.....). So I gave Brady a coloring book and his box of crayons and markers. He has been OBSESSED with markers lately and they are a great stall tactic for me to finish up what I am doing. He has been pretty good about staying on the paper with them too as long as he is sitting right next to me. So this time it was a little different. He was only sitting there for a couple minutes and I look over and see this.................

(Notice his no pants-he did that in his crib instead of going to sleep!)
This frame has been sitting in front of the book case for like 3 months now. I have 2 more photos to print out and fill before I hang it (sorry to my sister Amanda and Aaron's brother Chad-you're still missing!). Now I have to do a little more work to get it "hang worthy". Thank goodness for washable Crayolas!! Sorry to everyone he marked on!!!!!

PS Erica, this is the only picture I had of you recently and was waiting for a better one to put in here instead. Not that this one is bad but I know you have much cuter ones from Christmas on your camera! He didn't mark on your face though so you can be happy about that! :)

Brady's 1st movie

So on Monday night we decided to take Brady to see his first movie in a movie theater. A couple months back at McDonalds Brady got a couple toys from some happy meals from the movie Madagascar 2 and he loves the zebra. He loves to say zebra too! I'm glad that our zoo here has a zebra because Brady loves zebras. When Aaron gives him rides on his back he wants Daddy to be a zebra.
Anyway, you probably guessed that the movie that we took Brady to was Madagascar 2. I thought we should take him to try and see how he would do but I decided to wait until it went to the cheap theater so in case it didn't work out so well, we wouldn't have spent so much money. He loved the movie and he did so well. He stayed in his seat most of the time and when he wasn't in his seat he was standing right in front of it and peeking over the seat in front of him or dancing around to the music. It was fun to take him and he had a good time too.

I couldn't get him to put the zebra down from his face for the picture. Oh well, the pictures still turned out cute.

Leapin' Lizards! (and other things too)

So I was cleaning up my front yard and trimming my lantana bushes back because it's that time of year and we had a lot that needed trimming back. So when I was done trimming and hauling away the branches I trimmed, I got out the rake to rake up all the dead leaves that had accumulated under where the bushes were. So I was raking up carefully over the rocks to just get the leaves and not the rocks and this little guy pops up in my pile. At first I only saw the back half of him and I thought it was a snake but then I looked closer and it was a lizard. (I'm still getting used to all these strange and prickly Arizona animals. I should be by now, you would think after living here 3 years!)
He wasn't really moving much and I was afraid I had given him internal injuries with my rake or something so I carefully picked him up in my hands (I was wearing thick work gloves). He kind of wrapped his legs and curled up around my fingers so at least I knew he was still alive. So I put him up in the wall so I wouldn't hurt him while I finished raking.
Still no real movement from him but I thought he must be in his protective "hold still and play dead" mode or something. So I began raking again carefully in case there was more of his family lurking in the leaves. I guess I was right because then another little lizard pops up in my pile and I picked him up and put him on the wall too. This guy was a smaller one. He wasn't moving much either.
So I finished raking up my leaves from both bushes I had trimmed and cleaned up all the leaves and branches laying around on the ground and sidewalk. After I was done, both lizards were still sitting on the wall not moving. So I picked them up carefully again, with a little resistance from both lizards-their little claws kind of clung to the cinder blocks, and put them back near the cut bushes. I put my tools away and went back inside the house.
So I came back out a little while later to get the mail and also check to see if the lizards had moved from the spot I left them. The big lizard was no where to be seen (he must have moved to the neighbors over grown and dying lantanas!), and the little one was just on the other side of the bush from where I left him. But then I saw a 3rd lizard sitting right next to the smaller lizard and it was about the same size but just lighter in color.
How crazy is that? We had a little family of lizards in our bush and I feel bad but I just evicted them! I guess the economy is reaching the reptile world too and even they are losing their homes! I must say I am relieved to know what I had been hearing rustling around in my bushes every time I walked by them before! I thought for sure it was a snake or something. You didn't think I could turn a lizard story into a whole blog post did you?
So here is another picture that I didn't want to post all by itself and it is kind of keeping with the animal theme. We went to the zoo on Friday and they had the big turtle shell back out for the kids to climb and play in. It was out for a while and then they put it away for several months and now it is back out. So Brady had a fun time playing in that!
And in an unrelated topic-Brady went #2 on the potty for the first time today! Yay! He goes pee on there all the time but we can never catch him before he is already trying to go #2 in his diaper but we did today. I can't believe he will be 2 years old next month!
OK, so if you're still reading this post, thanks! I looked back over it and realized it was really long and maybe not so interesting.

Family Pictures

After Chad got home we took pictures with the whole Gray family and it was really fun. They turned out really well and these are just the rough copies. We had a photographer in the St Louis area do them at Forrest Park on a foggy day. Since they are not my photos I will give credit to the photographer Shea Lovell. And since they are proofs, they have Capture Photo across them so you'll have to just imagine what they will look like without the words.

What a little ham! I have no idea where he gets that from!!! There are really so many good ones and I have no idea which ones I'll end up ordering because they all turned out so well. Thanks Shea!

I'm back!

So I think I am almost settled back in here at home after being back a week! I don't know what my problem is this week but I just can't get my head back on straight after being gone over Christmas. I hardly took any pictures over Christmas on my camera and my mom the official Purcell family photographer is supposed to send me a CD so I could have some pictures but I haven't gotten it yet. So here are a couple that I do have.

Brady opening one of his favorite presents. Right around this time he yelled "TARS!" (For those of you who don't speak Brady that means Cars) He got a big Lightening McQueen car and loves it!
Aaron's brother Chad got back from his mission on Jan 2nd and we all met him at the airport to greet him. Very embarassing!!!

We dressed Brady up just like his Uncle Chad. Chad left on his mission Jan 10th of 2007 and Brady wasn't born until Feb 10th 2007 so this is the first time they got to see each other. It was so cute.

The rest of us dressed up in camoflage for Chad. He is a fishing and hunting enthusiast so we wanted to give him a proper welcome home and back to the real world!
(Thanks to Erica and Lauren for the pictures I stole from your blogs. I didn't take any of my own on my camera.)
